Abram was living in an idolatrous country when God called him and revealed His glory to him and spoke to him. Abram turned from vain idols to walk with God and all of this was by God's grace. Heb. 11:8 says that Abraham obeyed God and God told him He would bless him. It has been said that faith is not believing in spite of evidence; it is obeying in spite of consequences. The proof of faith is obedience, for true faith always leads to works. Hearing leads to heeding.
We aren't told about the journey Abraham was required to take, but it must have been very difficult. We are told that God met Abram when he arrived and gave him a new promise. God always goes before us and has His Word ready to encourage us. Abram's life would be marked by the presence of a tent and an altar.
Blessing leads to testing. Faith is always tested for at least three reasons: 1.to prove whether our faith is real; 2.to help our faith grow and 3.to bring glory to the Lord. What it must have been like for Abraham following God right into a dry land, a famine in the very land where God said he would eventually inhabit! We can be in the will of God and still suffer trials and pain. We are not exempt from anything painful in this life. In fact, we are to expect it since Jesus is our example.

you question what i know of the bible. ok, here is what god created (under christian theology). and i will use biblical references. Genesis, Book 1, Paragraph 3. "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." To create light is to create energy as well, you cannot have light without that energy. He also created our souls, as well, and souls are energy. Genesis, Book 2, Paragraph 7: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." So he created energy. He created time as well. "And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." day and night, 7 days of the week, the year, the minutes, the second, that which god created by setting out certain times of the day and night, that would be creating time. His creation of space and matter is also in Genesis. "And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good." This is saying that he created earth, planets, and all of this material stuff. that is all made up of matter, and matter cannot exist without space. so if you are going to make the claim that i do not know what the hell im talking about, make sure it is justifiable.
